virtual health visits (telehealth)

anthem medical plans

If you are enrolled in the Chevron Medical PPO Plan, the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), or the High Deductible Health Plan Basic (HDHP Basic), Anthem provides participants access to online visits through the LiveHealth Online service as part of your benefit coverage.

With virtual health visit services, you can see a health provider, right from home. All you need is a mobile device - like a smartphone or tablet - or a computer with a webcam.

  • Visit board-certified health and behavioral health providers. They can assess your condition, provide treatment options and typically send a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, if needed. Some services may even be available 24/7.
  • Get quick care when you need it. Doctors can treat you for minor issues like fever, sore throat, cough and colds, flu, urinary tract infections, sinusitis, allergies, eczema, rashes, skin lesions and heartburn.
  • The cost of service varies. If your health plan provides this service, your cost sharing - if any - will vary, depending on your plan's coverage rules. You'll typically see the cost for the service up front, before you initiate a visit.
  • Payment is easy. You'll usually pay up front before your visit is initiated with a credit or debit card. You can also pay with a special purpose debit card for a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account. Please keep in mind that charges for prescriptions aren’t included in the cost of your virtual health visit.

As always, remember, call 911 or go to the ER if you think you need care right away.

You can register at any time so you’re ready for a visit when you need one by visiting livehealthonline.com or by downloading the free LiveHealth Online app to your mobile device. You'll need your Anthem ID card when you register. Get more instructions and start a visit here.
  • Online visits under your Anthem plan must be with providers who contract with LiveHealth Online. Online visits do not include consultations outside of the LiveHealth Online service.*
  • Covered services include medical consultations using the Internet via webcam, chat, or voice from a LiveHealth Online Provider at livehealthonline.com.

  • No claim forms or other filing with Anthem is needed when you use LiveHealth Online; the payment requested (if any) is your actual out-of-pocket cost for that service.
  • Anthem doesn’t cover prescription drugs for outpatient treatment – whether you’re visiting a provider in the office or through LiveHealth Online.
